Careers Provision at Royal High - Helping Every Girl Find Her Path
Careers
At Royal High Bath, our careers provision is truly unique. Our in-house Careers Adviser, Mrs Whalley, meets one-to-one with students and parents every week of the school year to help the girls understand their strengths, explore possibilities and approach their next steps with confidence. This regularity is not typical of every school and is something we are proud to be able to deliver for our girls.
From choosing GCSE options and Sixth Form pathways to considering university, apprenticeships and future careers, we provide personalised support that enables every student to make informed, ambitious decisions about her future. Through one-to-one guidance, careers-focused events, work experience opportunities and connections with professionals from a wide range of industries, girls gain valuable insight into the opportunities available to them beyond the classroom.
Since the start of school last month, Mrs Whalley has been exceptionally busy with the following activities:Â
- Meeting with Year 11s about their choices for A levels, and explaining how this impacts their post-18choicesÂ
- Meeting with Year 9s individually to help them start thinking about their choices for GCSEsÂ
- Meeting with Year 12s individually who are deciding what type of work experience would help them most
- Meeting with Year 13s applying to Ivy League universities in the USÂ
- Meeting with Year 13s who want to apply for apprenticeships as an alternative to university
- Meeting with Year 13s finalising their UCAS choices
- Meeting 1:1 with parents in schoolÂ
- Meeting 1:1 with parents over Zoom
- This is in addition to what has been offered by our Head of Future Education, Mr Hardcastle, who has been holding daily individual meetings with Year 13s to help them finalise their UCAS choices and applications.Â
As part of the Girls' Day School Trust, our students also benefit from access to an exceptional network of expertise, mentoring and career-focused opportunities, helping them build the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to thrive in an ever-changing world.
In the video below, our Head of Careers, Mrs Whalley, shares more about the extensive careers provision available at Royal High and how we support girls at every stage of their journey towards successful and fulfilling futures.
