Celebrating Gold DofE Success at Buckingham Palace

Senior School, Co-curricular & Trips

Every year, young people who complete their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) are invited to mark their achievement at special garden parties held at Buckingham Palace. This year’s event held added significance, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the DofE Award, with a leader from each participating organisation also invited.

Mr Hardcastle joined nine of our students and alumnae at the celebration, held in the presence of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. Guests were also joined by inspirational Gold Award holders, including Gareth Malone OBE, Corinna Brown and Chloe Chong. Despite a few showers - a fitting reminder of expedition life - the group enjoyed exploring the Palace gardens and sharing tea and cupcakes in honour of their achievement.

Those attending from Royal High School Bath were Flora (who travelled straight from her final IB exam), Holly, Emily, Sophie, Jess, Jojo, Izzy, Mya and Amber.

Eleven students in our current Year 13 cohort have now completed their Gold Award, with a further four close to finishing. Completing the full Award while still at school is a rare accomplishment, and we are incredibly proud of their dedication, resilience and leadership.
