A Weekend of Sport and Adventure at the GDST Netball Competition
Sport, Prep
On Friday 27 February, our Prep School netball squad set off for the much‑anticipated GDST Netball Weekend at Condover Hall in Shropshire. Spirits were high as the girls boarded the coach, ready for a weekend of competition, challenge and excitement.
After a long journey, the girls arrived to a rather grey and drizzly Condover—but the weather did nothing to dampen the girls’ enthusiasm. Once they had settled into their dorms, there was just enough time for dinner before they headed out to explore the site and get a first glimpse of the activities awaiting them.
Saturday began with a good night’s sleep behind them and a leisurely breakfast, followed by a morning packed with adventure. From High Ropes to climbing and abseiling, the girls embraced every challenge with confidence and laughter.
The afternoon marked their first full netball competition of the weekend. Playing with determination and real team spirit, they finished the day in an impressive 3rd place out of eight GDST teams—a fantastic achievement for their opening round.
The day ended on a high, with more time to enjoy the activities on offer, including a live band. There may also have been some questionable dancing on show!
Sunday brought an early start—one that certainly revealed who among the group are not natural morning people. Nevertheless, the girls rallied brilliantly for another three matches, showing clear improvement, resilience and teamwork throughout.
Every pupil who attended represented Royal High Bath with pride, positivity and a willingness to push themselves. They grew in confidence over the weekend and created memories that will last long after the final whistle.
A special thank you goes to Miss Baber and Mr James for giving up their weekend to support the girls and make the trip possible.
