Sponge the Teacher 31

The Royal High School Bath Eco Society brought energy, laughter and a whole lot of water to campus today as students took part in a lively 'Sponge the Teacher' fundraiser in support of Just One Tree.

For a £1 donation, students were given three soaking‑wet sponges and the chance to test their aim on a very sporting group of teachers. Every pound raised will help to plant a tree, restore vital ocean kelp forests, and support environmental education around the world - making the event both fun and deeply impactful.

The initiative is part of the Eco Society’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, climate action and empowering students to make meaningful change.

Justine Philips, Sustainability lead at the school said:

"What I love most is seeing our students realise that small actions add up. One pound, one tree - it’s simple, it’s joyful, and it genuinely helps restore our planet. Today shows how powerful our community can be when we come together.”

With donations open online and enthusiasm running high, the Eco Society hopes to make a real contribution to Just One Tree’s mission of restoring life on land and in our oceans and inspiring the next generation of environmental leaders.
