Friends' Curry & Quiz Night

Community

The Friends Curry & Quiz Night earlier in November was once again a huge success – lots of laughs, some challenging questions, and over £900 raised for the school. We had 10 tables of parents from both the Prep and Senior schools, but only one could leave with our coveted winner’s trophy and the eternal glory of being Curry & Quiz champions. Well, at least until next year!

Paul Hudson, Chair of the Friends, said, “Curry & Quiz is one my favourite events that we run, because it gives parents a chance to have a huge amount of fun in a relaxed atmosphere, make new friends, and of course support a cause that’s close to all our hearts.”

Thanks to the fantastic Holroyd Howe catering team, the food was incredible: delicious appetizers to get everyone started, then a wide variety of Indian classics to complete the experience. We also had Friends volunteers working tirelessly behind the bar, as well as serving and helping set up the hall – everyone did their best to support the event, and the money we raised will be put to good use.

This year we sold out of tickets in just three days, so we’re already looking at ways to expand next year – perhaps using a larger venue, or hosting separate events for the Prep and Senior school. Let us know what you think by emailing hello@rhsfriends.org!

In the meantime, here are a handful of the questions that were asked – would you have been winner’s trophy material, or perhaps destined for the wooden spoon?

1. Arts and Literature: What is the crest animal of Gryffindor House: badger, griffin, unicorn, or lion?
2. People and Places: What is the only US state to have a one syllable name?
3. Sports and Games: What is Muhammad Ali’s real name?

If you think you know the answers, why not come and tell us all in person? The next Friends meeting takes place 23 January 2023 at the Rebecca Barrell Room at the Senior School – everyone is welcome!
