GDST Creative Writing Prize Results - well done to Trinity & Esme!

This year’s theme - Community - sparked some truly powerful and imaginative storytelling.
A huge thank‑you to GDST alumna and award‑winning children’s author Ewa Jozefkowicz for judging this year’s entries.
Ewa praised the “vivid imagery, gripping openings and moving, original poetry” across all year groups.

Our Royal High writers shone brilliantly!

Years 10-11 Winner
The Bright Lights from Afar - Trinity
"I was amazed by the sophistication of this piece. The imagery was incredibly vivid, and the atmosphere of the battlefield was powerfully realised. What stood out most to me was the shift towards shared humanity through music, which felt both moving and memorable."

Years 12–13 Runner‑Up
The House That Held Us All - Esme
"I loved this piece. The sense of warmth, memory and family was beautifully captured, and the descriptions of the house and its rhythms felt vivid and authentic. I was especially struck by how the writer handled grief, showing how the house and the community within it endures even as things change."

Huge congratulations to all our talented writers - your creativity lit up this year’s competition.
