Leiths Students Begin Their Confident Cookery 30 Journey
Sixth Form, Food Tech
Our Leiths students have officially begun their Confident Cookery 30 journey and are already making an impressive start.
Looking smart in their new chef whites and equipped with engraved knives, the girls are excited to immerse themselves in the renowned Leiths programme and develop their culinary skills.
This 30-week course is designed for students who want to master essential cookery techniques through a wide range of recipes, preparing them for travel, independent living and future opportunities. By the end of Year 12, students can achieve a Leiths Accredited Qualification alongside a Health and Hygiene certification, opening doors to gap year experiences and private chef opportunities.
Their first lesson focused on knife skills and vegetable preparation, with students creating a delicious butternut squash and coconut soup. This week, they moved on to "Get Ahead Breakfasts", learning the value of planning ahead, dovetailing recipes and balancing flavours and textures. The menu included maple granola, overnight oats and American pancakes, all beautifully presented with vibrant colours and thoughtful attention to detail.
The results have been as impressive as they have been delicious, and the girls should be incredibly proud of their efforts so far. A huge thank you to Mrs Goy for her guidance and enthusiasm. We look forward to seeing what our budding chefs create next.
The Leiths course is one of our Sixth Form Electives, which allow students to explore interests beyond their core A Level subjects and Future Skills Programme. Designed to complement their academic studies while reflecting individual passions and ambitions, our electives include opportunities such as AS Levels and the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), helping students broaden their knowledge and develop valuable independent research, critical thinking and practical skills.
