One Year as Head: A Year of Connection, Confidence and Curiosity

As we step into a new year, I find myself reflecting on an extraordinary first year as Head of Royal High Bath, GDST. Twelve months ago, I walked through these doors with excitement and anticipation, and since then, I have witnessed something truly remarkable: the spirit of our students and the exceptional talent of our staff shining through in every corner of our school.

From the very beginning, I have seen kindness, bravery and excellence on display daily. Whether in classrooms, on stage, on the sports field, or in the many co-curricular activities that enrich our community, these qualities have defined our year together. They are not abstract ideals—they are lived values, evident in the way our students support one another, embrace challenges, and strive for their personal best.

This year has been filled with moments that remind me why Royal High is such a special place. From the creativity of our drama and music productions to the resilience shown on the sports pitch, to the intellectual curiosity that drives our academic achievements, every experience has reinforced in me the strength of our community. Our students demonstrate that confidence does not always mean being the loudest voice in the room; it means believing in yourself, taking risks, and learning from every step along the way.

As I look ahead, I am proud to say that the values which underpin our school are clear and strong. Connection; the sense of belonging and gratitude that binds us together as a community. Confidence; the quiet and bold assurance that empowers our students to grow and thrive, and Curiosity; the spark that ignites learning and inspires a lifelong love of discovery.

These values will continue to guide us as I move into my second year of Headship at Royal High, and as we celebrate our 150th year of educating girls in Bath and prepare them for a future full of possibility.

Thank you to every student, parent, and colleague for making this first year so rewarding. Here’s to another year of learning, growing, and achieving together!
