The shocking events following the recent tragic death of George Floyd in the USA have rightly caused us to reflect on our own values and attitudes towards racism – both as individuals and as a School community.
Several friends and one family member are organising funerals this week. None of these deaths are Covid related, nonetheless, this virus has touched each family as a result of the strict regulations placed now on ceremonies such as funerals and weddings. Everything has been stripped back to keep us safe.
Despite many misgivings, staff have slipped relatively seamlessly into the remote world of Teams and Firefly as though it had been ever thus.
According to Martin Seligman only 2% of the population are natural optimists. He argues that the rest of us need to learn optimism. I wonder how many parents fall into that rare 2% category?
