Royal High School Bath Commemorates VE Day with Community and Reflection
Senior School, Nursery and Prep School, Prep
Over the past two days both the Senior and Prep Schools have enjoyed marking Victory in Europe (VE) Day with themed activities and traditional touches that helped bring history to life in a meaningful and memorable way.
In the Senior School the Catering Team prepared a special VE Day lunch on Thursday, featuring a selection of classic items including freshly baked scones. Students and staff took time to enjoy the occasion together, with the lunch providing a simple but thoughtful way to recognise this important moment in history.
Meanwhile in the Prep School Reception and Key Stage 1 pupils spent time learning about how people would have celebrated the end of the war in 1945. On Thursday the girls made colourful teapot style bunting to decorate the school ahead of today’s afternoon tea and street party. This afternoon they gathered for their own celebration picnic, complete with jam tarts—a much loved treat from the 1940s—and plenty of excitement. It was a lovely opportunity for them to reflect on what they had learned while enjoying the spirit of the day together.
Both parts of the school embraced the occasion in their own way and it has been a meaningful way to connect with the past while creating shared memories in the present.
