Royal High Student Cast in Theatre Royal Bath Production
Senior School, Performing Arts
We are thrilled to share that Year 8 student Mia has been cast in the upcoming community production of David Copperfield: A Life, directed and devised by award‑winning director Sally Cookson and the Company. The production will take to the stage at the Theatre Royal Bath over five performances from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 February 2026.
Mia will be performing in several roles throughout the show, including one of the Micawber children and a schoolboy named Hemsworth. She also has a humorous and significant part in the second act — though she’s keeping that one a surprise for now.
When asked how she came to audition, Mia explained that the opportunity arrived via an email invitation to her mum, who immediately knew it would be perfect for her. Mia’s love of performing began early, having taken part in all her primary school productions, and she has already appeared in three school shows since joining Royal High School Bath.
She credits the school community — especially the older drama scholars — for helping her build the confidence to perform on a professional stage. “They are so inspiring, supportive and encouraging,” she said.
For Mia, the magic of performing lies in transformation:
“I love the way that when you get on stage you turn into someone completely different. I love the challenge of becoming different characters.”
One of the most exciting aspects of this production is that Mia will be performing alongside her mum, who is also part of the cast — a first‑time experience for both of them.
“We’re in the school scene together, which is a really fun part,” Mia shared. “I’m also really excited to have lots of friends and family coming to support us across the five shows.”
We are incredibly proud of Mia’s enthusiasm, talent and courage as she prepares to take to the Theatre Royal Bath stage. We know that she will shine.
