A Term Full of Achievement, Creativity and Community

Royal High School Bath has enjoyed a vibrant and uplifting term, with students embracing every opportunity to lead, create and excel. The term ended on a high with a celebration assembly which brought the whole school together to recognise all of the academic, sporting and cocurricular achievements from across the term. We also enjoyed performances from across the Performing Arts departments, which were a wonderful way to bring the term to a close.

Looking back at some of the achievements we celebrated highlights the talent and dedication of our girls across all elements of school life.

Academic achievement has been exceptional. Students in the Biology and Chemistry Olympiads achieved gold, silver and bronze awards – only 5% achieved gold nationally, so this was some achievement. Two students secured offers from Oxford and Cambridge, and another saw her Psychology research published in an international journal. Science Week brought hands-on discovery across the school, complemented by workshops from the University of Bath and an inspiring assembly marking the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Roman day delivered lots of laughter as the girls explored this year's theme of Roman Comedy. We also saw two GDST travel awards presented to Year 13 students.

Creativity has flourished across the arts. The Young Musician of the Year competition, the Spring Concert, the dynamic dance production 'The Colour Within', the 150 minutes of performance to celebrate 150 years of the GDST in Bath, and a masterclass from West End performer Emily Goodenough all showcased the school’s artistic energy. House Dance and Drama just before February half-term demonstrated imagination, teamwork and the distinctive house spirit which has come to animate our school so vividly! LAMDA students shone at the 125th Mid Somerset Festival, and Year 7 delivered a bold, empowering performance in 'The Strong Girls Club and The Change Makers'.

In the Art Department, the new Watch This Space gallery opened with thoughtful Year 12 exhibitions, 17 Art Scholars were selected for the Royal Commonwealth Society’s showcase, and Year 10 scholar Trinity won first place in the Young Artists’ Prize. Visiting artists and creative workshops added further inspiration throughout the term.

Students also demonstrated impressive global awareness. Eight Year 12 delegates represented Turkey and Poland at BISMUN 2026, debating issues from women’s rights to gene editing. Lunar New Year celebrations brought Lion Dance workshops to campus, while earlier reflections for Holocaust Memorial Day deepened students’ understanding of global citizenship.

Beyond the classroom, the term was filled with adventure and community spirit. Prep netballers enjoyed a memorable GDST Rally at Condover Hall, Years 10 and 12 completed Ten Tors and Gold DofE expeditions on Dartmoor and Sixth Formers celebrated the end of mock exams with a student designed Masquerade Winter Ball, and younger pupils embraced outdoor learning through forest school sessions and nature-based challenges. Our students have also represented the school across numerous fixtures, showing true determination, resilience and generosity of spirit. A word must also go to the parents who have shown such great support to their daughters in often inclement weather on the sidelines!

We have also welcomed a large number of prospective students to the school to experience for themselves what life is like at Royal High, while learning and developing skills along the way at our Offer Holders’ Day and our Masterclasses in Netball, Languages, Art and Maths.

This has been a term full of pride and momentum, and a powerful reminder of the energy and talent that define Royal High School Bath.Â
