Senior School, Sport, Student Success

This weekend was a momentous occasion for Year 10 student Ruby who made her official debut for the England U16's Hockey team. Ruby plays goalkeeper position and was part of the Test Series team who took on the Scotland U16’s at Edinburgh University. Congratulations Ruby – and well done to the England U16’s who won the first game 6-0 and the second game 8-2!

Ruby who is also part of the first team squad for TeamBath Buccaneers which is based at University of Bath said: “It was amazing to be playing for my country and singing the National anthem felt surreal. I was nervous beforehand, but the feeling soon wore off. It was such an amazing experience.”

Miss Baber, Director of Sport, said: “Congratulations Ruby on a fantastic debut! It is thoroughly deserved. Ruby has been working really hard in the gym and on the pitch to improve and it has clearly paid off. We have no doubt this is just the first of many occasions when she will represent England at hockey and are thrilled to be celebrating her success with her and her family. It couldn’t happen to a more dedicated and deserving athlete.”
