🐾 Tali’s Tail: My First Half Term at Royal High School BathÂ
Hello there! My name is Talisker and I am the Head of Pawsitivity here at Royal High School Bath. I’m only 6 months old, but I’ve already had a paw-sitively amazing first half-term and a bit here — and I thought it was time to share a few reflections about my journey so far!Â
From the moment I stepped onto the grounds of this beautiful school, I was met with so much love, warmth, and kindness. The girls, staff, and parents have been so welcoming, gentle, and patient as I settle into my role. I’ve made lots of new friends — both two-legged and four — and every day is an adventure filled with tail wags, tummy rubs and happy encounters.Â
Wagging Through the WeeksÂ
Each morning starts with a walk through the stunning school grounds. Trees rustling, birds singing, and the occasional squirrel to chase (don’t worry, I’m learning not to!). The serenity here has done wonders for my puppy soul — and I’ve noticed it has a similar effect on the girls too.Â
I’ve spent my days meeting girls and teachers along the corridor, spending breaktime with various students who have come to meet Ms Boyes or see me, or I’m simply curled up listening to the chatter and joyful moments that this school offers. The girls have shown such maturity and compassion — not just to me, but to each other. I think that’s what makes RHB so special.Â
Paw-some Performances and Learning GaloreÂ
One of the best parts of my job is getting to hear (and see) some of the incredible things happening here where the music made my ears perk up with joy! I’ve peeked in to see dazzling drama performances, full of emotion, creativity, and sparkle and hovered around classroom doors where every girl, no matter her age or ability, is encouraged to shine in her own unique way.Â
Learning here isn’t just about facts and figures. It’s about curiosity, courage, kindness, and joy — and I can feel that in every corridor I walk down.Â
Kindness at Every CornerÂ
What stands out most to me? The kindness. The girls here are not only intelligent and committed to their learning, but incredibly caring too. Whether it’s a gentle hand on my chin, a whispered hello as they pass, or making sure I have a quiet space to rest when I need it — I’ve felt truly loved. And it’s not just the students — the teachers, support staff, and parents have been just as wonderful. I’ve overheard so many conversations full of encouragement, laughter, and support.Â
All Abilities CelebratedÂ
Something I’ve picked up on (between naps!) is how proud this school is of everyone. Whether a student is taking her first steps in learning or soaring with confidence, every effort is noticed and celebrated; unconditional encouragement and belief in each other truly exists at RHB!Â
So, as I step into the second half of this first term, I just want to say thank you. Thank you to every student who has shared a moment with me, every staff member who’s guided me, and every parent who’s shown interest in my journey. I may still be small, but I feel like a big part of the RHB family.Â
Here’s to more paws-on learning, adventures, and heartwarming moments next term.Â
With a wag and a woof,Â
Tali 🐾Â
