Nursery in Bath
As girls’ education experts for over 150 years, our knowledge and tailored approach to fostering well-being, self-confidence and academic success in girls is woven into everything that we do, starting in our Nursery.
We take great care to develop every girls’ individuality, providing the foundation for her to grow into becoming a strong young woman ready to seize opportunities and make her mark on the world.
Your daughter's first experience of school should be all about excitement and adventure. Our girls in Nursery will make discoveries, develop their imagination and gain in confidence. They will build friendships and start to experience a joy of learning.
Girls join our Nursery in Bath in the term they turn 3 years old and remain until they move into Reception as a 4-year-old in September. Nursery is an integral part of the two-year Early Years Foundation Stage, which leads seamlessly through your daughter's Reception Year here and onwards into the Royal High Prep School.
Cranwell House is tucked away near Victoria Park in Bath, Somerset. We have a beautiful building and surrounding environment which includes acres of outdoor space. This means that girls in our Nursery really do have the opportunity to explore and discover something new every day.
We appreciate that for families with young children, flexibility is key, so we offer a variety of sessions so that you can design a schedule that works for your family. With options including breakfast club and after school care, our Nursery operates Monday to Friday from 7:30-18:00 all year round.

Learning through discovery
We teach our Cranwell Curriculum which is based on the Reggio Emilia approach – designed to be engaging, diverse and girl-centred.
The Reggio Emilia approach focuses on creative learning and helps girls to become independent thinkers and curious about the world around them.
Language, literacy, numeracy, communication, personal, social, creative and physical skills are developed through exploring, doing, dressing up, painting, singing, seeing what happens when you mix sand and water, getting on bikes and trikes, cooking, playing music, solving puzzles, and exploring our environment. In this creative setting, the girls can discover what the world is made of.
Our specialist teaching staff are experts in offering a tailored approach to fostering well-being, self-confidence and academic success in girls and this woven into everything that we do, starting in Nursery.
Throughout their journey with us we are always encouraging our girls to be brave, reflective, inquisitive, collaborative, kind and sparky; traits that we believe can help them make their mark on the world.
Should you wish to continue your daughter’s journey with us then we offer a smooth transition, enabling girls who join us in Nursery to stay with us all the way through Prep School to Senior School and Sixth Form.
“ The teaching staff, the activities, the delightful setting - all made for a very happy time for our grandchildren. They grew in confidence with each day and learned such a lot. From the very first day they were relaxed and happy at the Nursery. ”Grandparent
