150 Minutes of Performance
Senior School, Performing Arts
Royal High School Bath marked a landmark moment in its history with 150 Minutes of Performance, a vibrant, student‑led celebration honouring 150 years of the Girls’ Day School Trust in Bath. The evening brought together Dance, Drama and Music in a dynamic blend of creativity, showcasing the extraordinary talent and imagination of our students.
Across the 150 minutes, audiences were treated to a beautifully varied programme spanning classical piano, contemporary vocals, original choreography, and powerful dramatic work. From Schubert to SIX: The Musical, from Greek tragedy to modern monologues, from our Kenyan sister school's traditional dance to heartfelt ballads, the performances showcased the full spectrum of our students’ creativity. Each piece, whether spoken, sung, danced or recorded, reflected the individuality of our girls and the collaborative energy that defines the performing arts at Royal High Bath.
What made this event truly special was that each piece, from the earliest spark of an idea to the final moments on stage, was crafted by the girls themselves. Their artistry, discipline and collaborative spirit shone through, offering a powerful reminder of what girls can achieve when they are encouraged to learn without limits.
The celebration also paid tribute to the school’s remarkable heritage in 1872, a document signed at the Royal Albert Hall established the Girls’ Public Day School Company, founded on a bold vision: to make high‑quality education accessible to able girls from all backgrounds. Bath High School followed soon after in 1875, later merging with The Royal School in 1995 to form the Royal High School Bath we know today, an institution shaped by confidence, curiosity and connection, and committed to nurturing every girl’s potential.
Today, as part of a family of 25 GDST schools, Royal High Bath continues to champion academic excellence, confidence and joy in learning. Students benefit not only from exceptional teaching but also from the wider GDST network, which offers leadership programmes, university preparation, skills workshops and bursary support for over 1,100 girls each year.
150 Minutes of Performance embodied this ethos. Our Performing Arts Scholars created an evening that was bold, moving and full of heart, an artistic tribute to 150 years of empowering girls to thrive.
Our Head of Drama, Leanne Vincent-Norgate said:
"Watching our talented scholars once again step into the spotlight, supporting one another and sharing what they love, is everything I love about the performing arts at Royal High Bath. Each performance brought its own unique voice, which I have come to expect of our girls, and together they demonstrated just how much the performing arts at Royal High Bath has flourished since those early days. There was such a sense of joy and community tonight, it was glorious!"
