Last week we were delighted to celebrate the creativity, collaboration and critical thinking shown by our Year 9 students through their recent Problem Based Learning (PBL) project.

Grounded in our values of Confidence, Curiosity and Connection, the girls were challenged to tackle a real-world brief inspired by the Victoria and Albert Museum Innovation Challenge. Each team selected an item from the V&A collection and thoughtfully reimagined it for modern living -bringing together design thinking, innovation and practicality.

What made this project particularly special was the integration of the British Science Association Bronze CREST Award. As part of their work, students identified a scientific question within their designs, carried out testing and analysed their results, demonstrating their ability to think methodically, logically and with purpose. This nationally recognised award can also be referenced in future UCAS applications, showcasing valuable academic and transferable skills.

The range of ideas was truly impressive, spanning redesigns of bedside units, flexible storage solutions, alarm clocks, chairs, footwear, Tupperware, and even a striking glow-in-the-dark gown inspired by the Met Gala. This breadth of innovation reflects both the imagination and the diversity of talents within the year group.

We are incredibly proud of our Year 9 students for their enthusiasm, teamwork and creativity- and for embracing the challenge with such confidence and originality.
