The Dancing Jukebox

Sixth Form, Senior School, Nursery and Prep School, Performing Arts

More than 80 dancers across the Junior and Senior Schools came together for ‘The Dancing Jukebox’. The evening’s theme centered around iconic music and music artists through the decades ranging across different music genres. Choreography and music choices were inspired by Pop, Disco, Classical, Musical Theatre, Rock and many more. Our KS3 Dance Company, Senior Dance Company, GCSE Dance students and Ballet Company all performed alongside our Dance Scholars. Pieces were inspired by music artists including Mozart, Stevie Nicks, ABBA, Sting and many more.

The show opened with a Spice Girls mash up video which included videos of dancers across Years 5- 12 all performing the same choreography, it also featured a blooper reel which highlighted the fun and joy the dancers had in completing the project.

Girls from Years 7 to 12 performed solos, duets, trios and groups of their own choreography in varying styles including ballet, tap, contemporary, jazz and K-Pop. A special mention goes to our dance leaders/club choreographers: Pelagia, Freya, Olivia, Phoebe, Mia and Elisabeth.

On Thursday evening, students from years 5 and 6 at the Prep School joined our Senior School students to perform their rock n roll and disco themed dances. Their energy and joy in their performances was captivating and infectious!

This year a song and dance trio was included and they performed ‘Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy’ in 3 part harmony. The dance show also debuted the GCSE music composition of Freya who performed a solo choreography alongside it.

"Congratulations and well done to all the girls involved in the production of ‘The Dancing Jukebox’. The girls have been dedicated in creating and rehearsing their own choreographies and rehearsing the group dances with enthusiasm and professionalism. The standard of dance and choreography on display was incredible and the energy in the room on Friday was outstanding! I was proud to see how much our dancers have improved over the years and I am looking forward to next years’ show." - Miss Kovacs
