Year 13 Muck-Up Day: A Wild West Farewell

Today, the school bid a fond farewell to our Year 13 students in true Muck-Up Day style, celebrating the end of their time with us before they embark on study leave in preparation for their final exams. This year’s theme - Wild West - transformed the Senior School, complete with wood shavings scattered across the floor and a host of cowboy-inspired decorations. The day was filled with energy and spirit, as students embraced the tradition of light-hearted mischief, marking the occasion with creativity and humour.

Weekly Reflections: Lifting others as we climb

At Royal High, student leadership isn't about popularity or titles. It’s not about being the loudest voice, but the voice that makes space for others. It’s about being present when it matters, taking initiative when others step back, and choosing to uplift rather than outshine.

A Warm Welcome to Cheryl Giovannoni, Chief Executive of the GDST

This week, we were thrilled to welcome Cheryl Giovannoni, Chief Executive of the GDST, to Royal High School Bath. Cheryl took the time to catch up with our new Head, Mrs. Heidi-Jayne Boyes, meet with staff members, and hear from our newly appointed Student Leadership Team.During an inspiring conversation with students, Cheryl shared valuable insights on leadership, urging them to embrace their roles as future changemakers. Her message was both powerful and encouraging: no matter what field they choose to lead in, students should use their voices to uplift other women, challenge misogyny, and confront toxic masculinity.

Year 7 Students Embark on an International Treasure Hunt

Our school recently came alive with the sounds of different languages as our Year 12 Foreign Language Leaders hosted an exciting International Treasure Hunt for all Year 7 students. This fantastic event was designed to ignite a love for languages and celebrate the diverse cultures of the world in an interactive and engaging way. Year 7 students eagerly took on the challenge, working in teams to solve clues that led them to different 'countries' set up around the school. Each station represented a different nation, where students had to complete language-based activities in French, German, Mandarin, and Spanish before moving on to their next destination. The competitive spirit was high as students raced against each other to solve the clues, reinforcing their problem-solving skills while developing their linguistic abilities.

This term, our Year 12 IB students had the pleasure of hosting fellow IB students from Sven Eriksonsgymnasiet in Sweden. This collaboration has been a cherished tradition for several years, with the Swedish students always enjoying our beautiful city and school — they even compared it to Hogwarts! During their stay, they attended lessons alongside our students and bonded over some friendly competition at the bowling alley.
