This term, students at Royal High Bath, GDST have shown remarkable creativity and compassion by raising over £2,400 for the charity Evie’s Gift, through a combination of the £10 Challenge and own clothes days.

Each Year 8 student was given a £10 note and tasked with growing it over the summer holidays. The challenge not only encouraged entrepreneurial thinking but also supported a cause close to the school’s and charities heart, helping families stay close to their critically ill children in hospital.

Here’s how our students made a difference:

  • Alice raised funds by selling ballet bun wraps, bracelets, and hair accessories using an honesty box while on holiday.
  • Imogen created and sold her own Murder Mystery game, a standout example of creativity and initiative.
  • Eliza offered car washing and sold handmade lavender bags.
  • Ava and Etta teamed up to raise money through busking, sharing their musical talents with the community.
  • Faye offered car washing services.
  • Emillia earned her contribution through dog walking and clerical work.
  • Amelie sold her own diamond art creations.
  • Sylvia held a cake sale.
  • Katherine made and sold earrings and necklaces.
  • Molly sold mocktail sets.
  • Evie, Cora, and Rose also contributed through generous donations.

In addition to the £10 Challenge, RHB students raised approximately £1,200 through themed own clothes days, including a popular pink mufti day, further boosting support for Evie’s Gift.

The charity was founded in memory of Evie Clover, who tragically passed away from a brain tumour at just 13 years old. Her legacy lives on through the organisation’s work, providing emergency financial support to parents of critically ill children in hospital.

From handmade crafts and car washes to musical performances and game design, each student brought their own flair and dedication to the challenge. Their efforts reflect the values of empathy, initiative, and community spirit that define RHB.

We are incredibly proud of our Year 8 students and grateful to everyone who supported their efforts. Their fundraising has made a real difference and they’ve learned powerful lessons along the way.
