Meet our new Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl Team - Ellie, Kashuf and Kopikha

Head Girl: Ellie

Hi, I'm Ellie! I joined RHS in year 4, having moved from a GDST school in Oxford.

What do you love about Royal High School Bath?

I really love the variety of subjects available, and the standards to which they are provided, especially across the different courses from A-level to IB. The commitment of the teachers is very special, and I've definitely benefitted from their dedication as the only student in two of my subjects!

What inspired you to go for the position of Head Girl/ Deputy Head Girl?

I was inspired by my older sister, Darcy, who went for deputy in 2020 and crushed it. I thought I'd try to do one better than her and go the whole way to Head Girl though! It's been a goal of mine to be able to stand up and speak in front of the school, so the hustings event opportunity was also an inspiration.

What are your plans for your time as Head Girl?

I'd like to create better connections between GDST schools, especially our 'local' ones - Portsmouth, Oxford and Howells. I'd also like to start a public speaking club, to hopefully improve confidence and skills in the younger years.

How do you think you and our prefect team can inspire younger students across the school?

I think our prefect team can inspire younger students to be confident and try new opportunities, even if they're sacred. I think it’s also important to show the variety of roles available, and that they don’t have to be specifically academic or sporty to fit into the team.

Deputy Head Girl: Kashuf

My name is Kashuf, and I am currently in Year 12 studying A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths. I have been at RHS for almost 6 years, joining in Year 7.

What do you love about Royal High School Bath?

The thing that I love the most about RHS is the atmosphere - everywhere just feels so warm and welcoming. Your passions are always celebrated, and we are encouraged to explore and discover whatever we love and share that with everyone.

What inspired you to go for the position?

I have always looked up to the Prefect Team, how each person is so unique but full of so much spirit for the school! When the opportunity to apply came, I was thrilled as it was a chance to practise professional skills for my future, and I was so grateful when I received the role as it has given me a gateway to put some of my ideas into action and allows me to express my gratitude to all staff and students for my time at RHS.

What are your plans for your time as Deputy – what changes would you like to see?

Out of our over-arching goals as a Prefect Team, my two personal pledges are branching out to neighbouring GDST schools, such as Howell's in Cardiff and Portsmouth High, to collaborate and create even further within our extensive GDST network and to help ensure school events, whether that is International Gala, house events or wishing everyone Eid Mubarak, are accurately researched and organised, as having just that extra bit of support can mean that each event is truly rewarding and celebratory for everyone. I am also hoping to launch more creative STEM events, in collaboration with our Science prefect Melody, to emphasise what STEM truly means - we held the first one last week, with Y7 building and launching paper rockets in celebration of National Space Day!

How do you think you and our prefect team can inspire younger students across the school?

I hope that younger students see us as a group of passionate people, sharing our beliefs and working to make meaningful changes within our community, and they are inspired to remember that they absolutely have the power to do the same too! We all love hearing what ideas students have, or feedback on how we can improve something, and hope to be joyous, welcoming faces!

Deputy Head Girl: Kopikha

Hi everyone! My name is Kopikha, and I joined the Royal High School in Year 7 and have cherished every moment of my journey from then to now!

What makes Royal High School Bath special?

What makes Royal High School Bath truly special is its vibrant community spirit and commitment to ensuring that every student is heard. The supportive environment, dedicated teachers, and diverse opportunities for personal growth have shaped me into the person I am today!

What inspired you to go for the position of Head Girl/ Deputy Head Girl?

My inspiration to pursue the position of Deputy Head Girl comes from my passion for giving back to our school community. I am driven to instil bravery and encourage students at Royal High School to seize every opportunity that comes their way.

What are your plans for your time as Head Girl/ Deputy – what changes would you like to see etc?

As Deputy Head Girl, my main aim is to create a sense of empowerment and collaboration within our school community. I am committed to closely collaborating with the student body to introduce initiatives that enhance student involvement and to create clear communication channels between students and staff, using the student-led Instagram! I am also interested in keeping our links with the Prep school by working with other prefects to bridge the gap of transitioning into the senior school!

How do you think you and our prefect team can inspire younger students across the school?

With this year’s prefect team, I believe we can inspire younger students across the school by being approachable role models who lead with compassion and enthusiasm. By actively engaging with students, whether through mentorship programs, extracurricular activities, or social media outreach, we can provide a supportive and encouraging environment where every student feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential.
