Weekend Round-up: Boarders Embrace Fun and Friendship
Senior School, Boarding
This weekend, Royal High boarders enjoyed a wonderful blend of relaxation, friendship and fresh air—proving that a healthy balance of work and play is key to success.
On Saturday, our Year 7 to 9 boarders took a well-earned break from their exam revision to enjoy outdoor games on Chapel Field. The sound of laughter filled the air as they played swingball, a very spirited version of badminton (who needs nets?), and a lively game of piggy in the middle. It was a joyful reminder of the power of play to recharge minds and spirits—living out our values of girls first and excellence, by recognising the importance of wellbeing in achieving their best.
Later that evening, Year 10 boarders settled into a cosy film night in the common room, complete with snacks and drinks, to enjoy Pirates of the Caribbean. A chance to unwind and connect, it offered a quiet moment of kindness and camaraderie during a busy term.
On Sunday, the Year 10 girls headed off to Victoria Park for a round of crazy golf. Navigating the course’s winding paths and water features (yes, one adventurous ball did make a splash in the stream!) the girls showed great bravery—and more than a touch of competitiveness—as they tackled each hole with determination and good humour.
Back on campus, the rest of our boarders returned to their studies, with some revisiting Saturday’s favourite outdoor pastime. Badminton rackets and shuttlecocks were back in action as girls enjoyed a relaxed game in the sunshine, showing how the simplest of activities can spark joy and build friendships.
From swings and shuttlecocks to pirates and putting greens, the weekend was a celebration of community, character and balance—everything that makes boarding life at Royal High School Bath so special.
