Year 7 Shine in Stellar Collaboration with the Herschel Museum

This term, Year 7 students have embarked on an inspiring Problem Based Learning (PBL) journey in partnership with the Herschel Museum of Astronomy. Their mission: to create engaging and educational resources that celebrate the life and legacy of Caroline Herschel, alongside other pioneering women in space science.

From imaginative puppet shows and atmospheric light installations to thought-provoking children’s books and exhibits exploring the gender bias in astronaut suit design, the students’ work has been nothing short of extraordinary. Their projects culminated in a special film screening and exhibition, where they presented their creations to curators from the museum.

Ellie Giles of the Bath Preservation Trust praised the students' efforts, saying, "I have been amazed by the incredible creativity on display in these projects. The girls have done some brilliant research and taken it in so many brilliant and unexpected directions."

Anna Jenkin, Head of Year 7, reflected on the success of the initiative: "This is our second year of collaboration with the Bath Preservation Trust through our Year 7 PBL studies, and it has been wonderful to see the girls engage so enthusiastically with the brief."

A curated selection of the students’ work will be on public display at the Herschel Museum until Friday 20 July-31 August - a must-see for anyone interested in space, science, and the power of young minds to inspire change.
