Lunchtime Legends: Classical Greek Success!
Senior School

We are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievements of three dedicated students who have taken on the challenge of studying Classical Greek GCSE, not during regular lessons, but in their own time at lunchtime and, now in Year 11, even after school.
In Year 10, this ambitious group didn’t just prepare for the Intermediate Certificate in Classical Greek; they have also worked hard to prepare for their full GCSE next year. Exploring the lives of Greek women and Athenian society through English-translated source material, enriching their understanding of the ancient world far beyond the language alone.
This was our first ever entry into the Intermediate Certificate, joining a national cohort of 455 candidates from 90 independent and 72 state schools.Â
We are proud to announce that our students performed brilliantly:
- Isabella – 87% – Merit
- Sennen – 92% – Distinction
- Emily – 97% – Distinction
These results bode extremely well for their full GCSEs and set a strong precedent for future cohorts. We already have four more students preparing to sit the exam this year from Year 10 and Year 12, with many more expected to follow in their footsteps.
Huge congratulations to Isabella, Sennen, and Emily — your hard work, curiosity, and commitment to Classics are inspirational.
