School Community Marks Holocaust Memorial Day
Senior School, History
The Royal High Bath community came together for a moving and reflective assembly to mark today's Holocaust Memorial Day. Students led the presentation with maturity and compassion, guiding us through stories of the Holocaust, the ongoing impact on survivors, and the importance of recognising genocide wherever it occurs in the world today.
Through the theme “Bridging Generations”, they highlighted the urgency of preserving testimony as the survivor population diminishes, sharing the lives of Anne Frank, Eva Schloss, and Manfred Goldberg to remind us why remembrance matters.
We also reflected on contemporary atrocities, including the ongoing genocide in Darfur, and considered how each of us can challenge prejudice and take action in our own communities.
History teacher Ben Lacey said
“Holocaust Memorial Day reminds us why it’s so important to understand the impact of prejudice and discrimination. As teachers, we want students not just to learn this history, but to recognise why it still matters today. I was really impressed by how thoughtfully and responsibly our students approached their presentation.”
Thank you to our students for their thoughtful contributions and for helping us honour the past while shaping a more compassionate future.
