Children's Mental Health Week

Senior School, Nursery and Prep School

During Children's Mental Health Week our teachers spent time talking to girls across the school about the importance of mental wellbeing.

Throughout tutor times the girls were able to have open conversation with their peers and their teachers about what mental health is and why it is important to look after our minds as much as our bodies.

During the week our Prep girls planted a fruit tree as part of this year's theme of Growing Together. At our Senior School the girls have had the opportunity to put their suggestions for supporting mental health into a wishing well to help other students.

Jemma Joakim, Deputy Head Pastoral at our Prep School highlights the importance of covering this topic in schools.

"Developing the emotional well being of our Prep girls is just as important as fostering their physical health. Good mental health helps our girls develop the resilience to cope with life’s challenges and grow into well-rounded, healthy adults. We nurture our girls and support them to build strong and caring relationships, build their self-esteem and to listen and respect their feelings and those of others."

Hannah Moreton, a Religion and Philosophy teacher, adds "Knowledge an understanding of the importance of mental health is vital, and students at the Royal High School understand that it includes our emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing."

We nurture our girls and support them to build strong and caring relationships, build their self-esteem and to listen and respect their feelings and those of others.”
