Royal High Prep School Triathletes Take on the IAPS National Triathlon

Nursery and Prep School, Sport

Thirteen intrepid Royal High Prep School students competed in the IAPS National Triathlon, a prestigious sporting event that brings together young athletes from independent prep schools across the nation. The event, hosted by Monkton Combe Prep School in Bath, is a true test of dedication, skill, and perseverance.

Despite never having competed in a triathlon before, these young athletes showed a tremendous amount of courage and determination. With the clock ticking down to the big day, the students began training in earnest, practicing swimming, cycling, and running.

On the day the students were greeted with glorious sunshine and a palpable sense of excitement. As they prepared to face the challenges that awaited them, the girls knew that all their hard work and dedication would soon be put to the test.

The students were split into two age groups for the triathlon, with the U10s facing a 150m swim, 2km cycle, and a 1200m run. The U11s would tackle a more challenging course, with a 200m swim, 4km cycle, and a 1800m run. In addition to these individual challenges, the girls also had to navigate the transitions between the swim and the cycle, a feat that is not for the faint-hearted.

As the day progressed and the temperature began to rise, the students faced even greater challenges. The heat made the already demanding courses even more difficult, pushing the young athletes to their limits.

Despite the challenges they faced, 12 out of the 13 Royal High Prep School students who participated in the IAPS National Triathlon completed the challenge. This incredible achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and perseverance that the girls displayed throughout their training and on the day of the event.

As the students crossed the finish line, the smiles on their faces were priceless. They had overcome numerous obstacles and pushed themselves to their limits, emerging victorious and filled with a sense of accomplishment that they would carry with them for years to come.

The IAPS National Triathlon is an excellent opportunity for young athletes to develop their skills in swimming, cycling, and running. By participating in the event, the students are able to hone their abilities in these disciplines and learn valuable lessons about perseverance, determination, and teamwork.
