Netballers' success in District Tournaments

Sport

We are incredibly proud of all our netballers this term. Since June they have been training hard and working towards the district tournaments that were played this week and last. All schools in the local area play against each other and the top two teams then go through to a regional tournament, held in Bournemouth, where they will be representing Avon.

On Tuesday 8th November the U19 squad headed to Bristol to play in a very wet and very cold tournament. They worked incredibly hard in the conditions and came up against some tough competition but ultimately had a lot of fun together on court.

The U16 squad then headed to Kingswood on Thursday 10th November to play their tournament. They were incredible all day, working well together in some tough conditions. They came second in the group to make it to the semi-finals; they came up against the toughest team there who took the win 15-7 however we won the second half and put up an incredible fight. That meant we were through to the 3rd/4th playoff which we won. Overall, our U16 team finished 3rd.

On Monday 14th November our U14 squad went up to Kingswood to see if they could get to the regional tournament. What a performance the girls put in! They won every game in the group stage to win their pool which meant they faced Hayesfield in the semi-final. It started to rain and the courts became slippery but the girls played on winning the semi-final to go through to the regional tournament - an amazing achievement! For the final, RHSB had to face the reigning champions Redmaids, but they played with nothing to lose and looked like they were having a fantastic time on court. It was wonderful to watch. Redmaids were defeated by RHSB resulting in us winning the tournament. We are so proud of each and every member of the U14 squad - well done ladies and we are looking forward to supporting you in Bournemouth in January.
