Year 13 Leavers Sent Off in Style

Sixth Form

Elegantly dressed and flanked by proud parents, our Year 13 leavers celebrated their time at RHS with an evening of drinks, dinner, prizes…and film. Allowing the girls a final chance to reflect on their days at school together, a champagne reception in Memorial Hall was followed by fine food in the dining hall, festively transformed with balloons and table cloths.

Over dinner, an array of prizes were presented, recognising an impressively diverse range of talents. To heart-warming cheers and applause from the girls for their peers, staff and the Head handed out prizes recognising all subject areas, as well as qualities such as kindness, initiative, originality, and determination. Highlighting the significance of the moment in their lives, Jo Duncan applauded the girls’ commitment and hard work – and that of their parents – in reaching this milestone. The Head urged them to take the GDST values - the spirit of which was so evident on this occasion – with them to the various destinations that await them.

After a few valedictory words from outgoing Head of Sixth Form, Andy Melton, who gave amusing accounts of life at the helm of the College and visions of riding away carefree into the sunset, guests were treated to a movie… Screening a project which captured memories and aspirations from girls across the year, as well as pearls of wisdom from staff, Alex Barnett and Serena Fu proudly premiered their Leavers’ film. To laughter and applause from its starring girls, staff and their guests, this much-valued year were sent off in light-hearted style.
