Prep pupils visit The Mathematical Institute at Oxford University
Nursery and Prep School
Six of our enthusiastic mathematicians from our Prep School visited The Mathematical Institute at Oxford University for the annual GDST Maths Conference.
Cambridge Mathematics lecturer and Keynote speaker Alison Kiddle encouraged the girls to ‘Notice and Wonder at the Beauty of Maths’. Exploring Maths in nature, themes such as the Fibonacci sequence, circle packing, and fractals were presented and discussed.
In
addition to this, the pupils listened to a presentation from a third year university student,
who has set up her own business encouraging girls to take up Maths which was inspiring, and our girls worked with some
pupils from Oxford High School Sixth Form to problem solve.
