Year 7 Student's Handmade Scrunchies Raise Nearly £300 for Charity
We are incredibly proud of Year 7 student Niamh, who has been fundraising tirelessly for The Carers’ Centre in Bath, a charity that has provided invaluable support to her and her family. With her mum preparing to run the Bath Half Marathon next weekend to raise money for the centre, Niamh was determined to do her part. While she’s too young to take part in the race herself, she found a creative way to contribute—by crocheting scrunchies in our RHB school colours and selling them during break times at school (with a little help from her friends!).

Girls in Tech at University of the West of England
Year 7 and 8 girls enjoyed a stimulating day out at the University of the West of England's inaugural Girls in Tech event. During the trip, organised by the Computer Science department, the girls had the opportunity to speak to undergraduates studying Games Technology (and try out some of their creations), design and plan a net zero city, choose how a company should respond to a debilitating cyberattack and complete an escape room challenge using binary decoding and cryptography skills.
Fantastic funds raised at Curry and Quiz Night
After a break of over two years, it was a pleasure to resurrect the Curry and Quiz night last month. The enthusiasm to take part was evident, as the event was a sell out within about forty-eight hours. Given our objective was to raise money for our fabulous performing arts department and their purchase of radio mics; the evening promised to be both fun and purposeful. Â

Weekend in Boarding - Karaoke fun
On Saturday evening all Y7-11 boarders enjoyed an evening of karaoke in the Rebecca Barrell Room with a professional karaoke set and disco lights. They sung mostly in groups and there was one excellent solo. We heard renditions of 'My Heart Will Go On', 'I Want It that Way', 'Call Me Maybe', and 'Baby' to name a few. The girls were enthusiastic singing and had encouragement from some dancing in the audience.

Multi-award-winning author Kiran Millwood Hargrave visit
Students enjoyed an end of term treat when we were delighted to welcome the multi-award-winning author Kiran Millwood Hargrave to Royal High. Kiran has won, and been shortlisted for, many book awards including the Waterstones Children's Book Prize and the British Book Awards Children's Book. Most recently in 2023 she was awarded the Wainwright Prize for Nature Writing for Children for Leila and the Fox. Many of the students in years 5, 6 and 7 were already familiar with Kiran’s books and were very excited to hear about the latest book in her new Geomancer trilogy The Storm and the Sea Hawk. Â
