The role:
Due to increased demand, we are seeking to appoint an experienced and outstanding Computing Teacher with the ability to teach Maths to KS3. The successful candidate will be able to teach mainly KS3/4 Computing, Graphic Design at KS4 and a willingness to contribute to A level Computer Science lessons. We are looking for someone who is energetic, committed and has a creative flair to join a vibrant and growing subject area.
The Computer Science department consists of one other person and offers GCSE, A Level and IB Computer Science, alongside a graphic design course at KS4. We have a history of excellent results at all levels. We will have healthy numbers in both years 12 and 13 in September and ideally the new post holder will be able to work towards contributing to teaching at this level.
The curriculum at KS3 consists of programming, digital literacy and graphic design and all students have an hour of Computing per week.
We have a dedicated IT suite and also the flexibility of students using their own devices, when needed.
We are particularly invested in creating opportunities for all learners and we enter multiple competitions each year. Extra-curricular clubs can be run according to what the girls would like and have included computer gaming, coding, cryptography and robotics.
Trips are run annually – mainly in conjunction with the local cyber security network but there will also be opportunities to join up with other GDST Schools. There has also been outreach events with local schools and within our own boarding community.
Mathematics is a popular and successful department at Royal High School Bath, which consistently achieves exceptional academic results. It has a number of teachers who would be able to support new members of the department.
